Month of February - Sherwood
"Low Cost Spay/Neuter
The Cat Adoption Team will participate in Spay Day USA 2007, a national campaign of The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), to promote spay/neuter as an effective and humane way to decrease the euthanasia rate of homeless animals in shelters as well as an essential component of good pet health care. CAT is celebrating by offering discounted spays and neuters for cats and kittens to low income families. In fact, thanks to public donations, neuters and spays will be available for only $15 and $25 respectively. These discounted procedures will be performed by CAT’s veterinary team at Cat Adoption Team’s hospital in Sherwood during the month of February and only a limited number of appointments are available – call to schedule an appointment today at 503.925.8903.
Anyone may participate even if your own pet is already altered or you don’t own a companion animal. Consider sponsoring a friend’s pet or making a donation to CAT, which helps to sponsor these discount spays and neuters. Donations can be sent to the Cat Adoption Team, 14175 SW Galbreath Drive, Sherwood, OR 97140 or to donate on-line click here. [see source]
Please Note: Cats and kittens must be healthy and CAT recommends that they have received an FVRCP vaccine within the last year, or have been vaccinated 10 days prior to surgery. All kittens must be 8 weeks of age and at least 2 ½ pounds. CAT is not equipped to handle feral/untamed cats."

Portland (Multnomah County) zip codes 97206 97266
CatNIP (Cat Neuter Incentive Program)

Sunday, February 25
"Coalition of Local Animal Shelters Teams up for Spay Day USA
Portland, OR – Spay Day USA, America’s first and only national day of action to promote the spaying or neutering of pets, will be held on February 27, 2007. All spay/neuter events held throughout the month qualify toward Spay Day.
The Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon (FCCO), a nonprofit, mobile spay/neuter program, is celebrating Spay Day USA by holding a special spay/neuter clinic on February 25, 2007 for feral cats living in the 97206 and 97266 zip codes. This clinic is exclusively for feral cats – untamed domestic cats living on their own, who have caregivers feeding them. The cost is just $5 per cat. If you are feeding feral or stray cats and live in either of these zip codes, you are encouraged to call FCCO at 503-797-2606 to learn how to get scheduled for this clinic. Space is limited so respond quickly.
FCCO is part of a multi-county coalition of animal care organizations that have identified these zip codes for a targeted spay/neuter effort. The coalition – known as CatNIP (Cat Neuter Incentive Program) – includes the Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon, Multnomah County Animal Services, Cat Adoption Team, Clackamas County Dog Control, Oregon Humane Society, Southwest Washington Humane Society, and Washington County Animal Control. The group will be holding other clinics throughout the year and gathering statistics to compare with shelter numbers to measure the effectiveness of this targeted effort.
For more information on the Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon, please view our website at www.feralcats.com, or, for more information on Spay Day USA events across the country, please visit www.hsus.org "
